Remembering Stevie Ray Vaughan 25 Years Later

Today (August 27, 2015) will mark the 25th anniversary of Stevie Ray Vaughan's death. The word "anniversary" is usually associated with celebrating a memorable event, mostly in a joyous way. Texas Bluesman, musician,  Stevie Ray Vaughan tragically passed away 25 years ago and today marks his anniversary.

It is definitely memorable. With a little pride of seeing him perform live and a melancholy joy of remembering those performances, I posted some blog posts on the 22nd and 24th anniversaries of his passing, missing number 23, not going to miss documenting on the Net number 25. That would be the Silver Anniversary. And the memories of seeing him perform live and hearing his guitar playing, like I've never heard a guitar played like that before, they are the silver-lining of my memories of my 20's. Seen him three times and the stories that surround those events are just as memorable as his performances, almost. I'll say, they are the aura that surrounded those particular days that led up to the moment he took the stage.

Other memories include the time in 1991, when I didn't go see his performance at the Memphis in May Music Festival, thinking well, I'll see him next year, only to realize on that August day that "tomorrow" is not guaranteed. It was a Monday afternoon, I was riding my motorcycle back home to go work the evening shift, after spending the weekend riding bikes with my father up at Ruby Falls in Tennessee. My Honda Goldwing had a radio. I'm not going to do a long blog, as I have done in the past. I'm just going to be thankful and have some Pride and Joy, that I didn't "live for tomorrow" and took the time to see him perform live, three times. A Biblical number.
